Celebrating St. Patrick's Day // 2017

St. Patrick's Day may be over, but I'm still reliving the magic of it in my heart. We celebrated in a so many fun ways this year!

First, we headed downtown on the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day for Shamrock Shindig. My friend, Megan, put on the event and it was incredible. Brandon and I had won free drink passes on Instagram and we were super pumped about that-- especially cause they had Magners, which is one of my favorite ciders. The event was absolutely incredible.

Megan knows how to throw an incredible event. It was windy and cold, but that didn't stop us from showing up at 10:30 AM to drink and play in the cold. Brandon and I sat and sang Irish music-- and even got a shout out from the band for knowing "Galway Girl" -- one of my favorites. We grabbed vegan pizza from Blaze and then met up with some more friends-- both old and new. It was such a blast!

We played corn hole, where Laura and I lost, but we did it with drinks in hands and smiles on our faces.

We got a picture with the lead singer of The Shamrouges and got free CDs, which means we're the ultimate fans now. 'nough said.

On St. Patrick's Day itself, I had a ton planned for my students. I was rocking my new "Lucky to Be a Teacher" t-shirt that I won on Instagram (I am winning a lot of things on Instagram lately...I guess I'm lucky!) and I was so excited for our day of festivities we had planned.

We played Shamrock Bingo, had St. Patrick's Day math stations, wrote about leprechauns and made awesome paragraph hamburgers about our luckiest day ever. We listened to Irish music and learned about why we celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

That night was movie night was weekly movie night with my cousins and aunt. It was my pick for the movie this week, and I chose Brooklyn, which is a phenomenal movie about an Irish immigrant coming to America. We decided to have pizzas and green sugar cookies. I may not spend all of St. Patty's Day out at the bar with green beer, but let me tell you, I know how to get down in a PG kinda way, people.

The next day, we met our dear friends, Macy and Dave for drinks downtown. We hadn't seen them in FOREVER and it was SO good to catch up and see some of our favorite people. It's always a blast when we get together. We went to the Boathouse in Canton, where I had never been before. It just so happened to be a gorgeous day, too!

We ended the night with green pancakes and listening to Irish music by candlelight, talking about the day we get to go to Ireland together.

How was your St. Patrick's Day? What did you do?
