Thanksgiving is right around the corner, people! I am so excited because I cannot wait to EAT. Just because Thanksgiving is centered around eating turkey doesn't mean you can't have the most delicious Thanksgiving. I'm not kidding, I love Thanksgiving more now that I'm a vegan than when I ate meat. Today, I'm sharing a roundup of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes and tips for anyone who is wanting to cut back on meat, dairy, eggs or other animal products this holiday season.
- There are vegan substitutions for everything! Instead of butter, use Earth Balance butter. Instead of milk, use unsweetened almond milk, coconut milk, rice milk or soy milk. Instead of cream, use soaked cashews or coconut cream. Instead of honey, use maple syrup.
- Tofurky makes a ton of different vegan roasts (that aren't gluten-free) but I hear are delicious options!
- Rethink traditional- if you want to make non-traditional Thanksgiving food...go for it! I love pasta options and loaded baked potatoes for the holidays as well! (:
- Load up on the veggies! Not only are they delicious, they are SO good for you and will help ease the bloating of that awful Thanksgiving food baby!
This sweet potato mash from Hot for Food Blog is amazing. I made this last year and oh. em. gee. this was the best thing ever. The toasted pecans on top make it so decadent.
These pumpkin sage biscuits from Minimalist Baker look so delicious (and would be so easy to make gluten-free!) There are only a few ingredients and anything with fresh sage is a-okay in my book!
This green bean casserole from Hot for Food Blog (my favorite vegan blog and YouTube channel, by the way!) is absolutely incredible. I made this last Thanksgiving and even my very non-vegan family loved it. I am definitely making it again this year!
It's not Thanksgiving without stuffing! This vegan stuffing from Minimalist Baker (again, can you tell it's one of my favorite vegan blogs?) So easy to make and with a twist of lentils and sage...I'm sold!
